'Orange is the New Black' season 5 available for streaming Friday

Show is Netflix's most-watched original series

SAN ANTONIO – The Netflix original series "Orange is the New Black" returns for a fifth season on Friday.

The show picks up where last season left off, with the death of Samira Wiley's fan-favorite character Poussey Washington and Dayanara Diaz (played by Dascha Polanco) holding a prison guard at gunpoint while prisoners surround her and tell her to pull the trigger.

The chaos of this season plays out over three days.

The new season is being called the "most overtly political" season yet and will continue to tackle LGBTQ issues, the Black Lives Matter movement, prison reform, as well as mental illness.

The show has become Netflix's most-watched original series and has received critical acclaim.
