Plenty of family fun around SA this weekend

Weekend Wrap spotlights events in area

SAN ANTONIO – This weekend in San Antonio there is something to do for pretty much everyone.

Matilda the Musical: Shows will run at the Majestic Theatre from Friday through Sunday. There are still tickets available for this Tony Award-winning musical.

Jungle Boogie Nights: San Antonio Zoo will feature this event every Friday this summer. From 6 to 9 p.m. there will be live music, food trucks and games.

Texas Folklife Festival: The three day festival spotlights the heritage and diversity of Texas. The event runs Friday through Sunday at the Institute of Texan Cultures.

Fit Pass: San Antonio Parks and Recreation program is back this summer. Free fitness and wellness activities are scheduled throughout the next few months. The program kicks off Saturday at Pearsall Park with a free Fit Pass Dash 5k at 8 a.m.

BBQ, Bottle & Beer: Whales and Ales Edition: This is the 12th year this event takes place at the Witte Museum. On Friday you can enjoy barbecue, beer and the new whale exhibit. This event is $25 for adults and $10 for kids.

Southerleigh Release Party: The brewery will be releasing their new summer brew, "Orange Cream Ale," - the party is Sunday at Paper Tiger.

United We Brunch: Area restaurants take part in this event. Samplings of brunch items will be served. This event takes place at the Briscoe Museum on Saturday. 

Roger Creager: The Texas country artist will take the stage Saturday night at Floore's Country Store. Tickets are still available.

Randy Rogers: Another Texas country favorite will be in the area. Along with special guest Kevin Fowler, this concert takes place Saturday night at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels. Tickets are still available. 

San Antonio Vintage Expo: Dealers will sell antiques and other vintage items. This takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Austin Highway Event Center.

San Antonio Bridal Extravaganza: All things wedding will be on display including a fashion show and cake tasting. The extravaganza will take place Sunday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
