Texas farmers, ranchers to benefit from Farm Aid concert

Willie Nelson planning concert to benefit Texas flood victims

SAN ANTONIO – Texas farmers and ranchers hit hard by Hurricane Harvey will get some help from a concert hundreds of miles away from the Lone Star State.

The 32nd annual Farm Aid concert is happening Sep. 16 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. The event was first organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young in 1985.

"All money (will) go to Texas farmers and ranchers," Nelson told KSAT's Paul Venema via text Wednesday evening.

This year's event is sold out. In addition to the organizers, performers include Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow and The Avett Brothers, among others.

Nelson said he's hoping to gather more of his musical friends for a concert to benefit Texas flood victims. He'll post that information on his website when details are finalized.

Until then, Nelson said donations can be made on the Farm Aid website.
