SAN ANTONIO – The most expensive taco in the world reportedly cost $25,000.

Chef Juan Licerio Alcala put together shrimp, Kobe beef, Almas beluga caviar, black truffle Brie cheese and 24-carat gold flakes.

Even the corn tortilla has flecks of 24-carat gold baked in.

"People are excited and a little surprised about how you can eat a taco for $25,000 (497,000 pesos) when you can find one on the street for 10 pesos,” Chef Alcala told Agence France-Presse. 

Even the salsa topping is extravagant -- it’s made with Morita chiles and civet coffee.

Civet coffee is the most expensive coffee in the world and is made from the fermented droppings of a cat-like animal called a civet.
