HOLLYWOOD – Some Selena fans have a problem with the Tejano star's posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Earlier this week, Selena's sister Suzette posted photos of the unfinished star to Selena's Facebook page. It didn't take long before fans pointed out what the star was missing: Her last name.
"It's great. But shouldn't it also have Perez on it?," Alexis Regnier commented.
By Friday, nearly 700 people reacted in agreement to Regnier's comment.
Another fan countered Regnier's remarks, likening the Tejano star to Beyonce Knowles.
"Should Beyoncé's say Carter?," Johnny Pineda replied. "It's should always be the artist name as they were known. I actually think it doesn't need the last name. Just SELENA."
The top four comments on the photos of Selena's star echoed the same sentiment: Why wasn't Perez included?
One fan made her own star for Selena's husband, Chris Perez.
Perez posted a photo of the star to Facebook on Thursday with the caption "Had to stop by, give a kiss, and say, 'I'll see you tomorrow.'"
The heartfelt display prompted many fans to offer Perez support ahead of the unveiling of his slain wife's star.
Frustration grew among fans during the revealing of the Tejano superstar's star on the Walk of Fame on Friday. Many noticed that Perez was nowhere to be seen during the reveal, calling attention to the fact that Eva Longoria was given the privilege of being included in the unveiling.
"Ok, why is Eva Longoria in the 2nd line and Chris is no-where (sic) to be seen? What’s going on here?" one fan questioned.
Perez was invited to take photos by his slain wife's star after an initial round of photos was taken. Fans roared with cheers and applause and began a "beso" chant, signaling Perez to plant a kiss on Selena's star.
Perez was photographed solo with the star and before he returned to his seat, he kissed his fingers and planted it on the star.
