Tamaladas take over SA this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Tamales, Christmas lights, Wookiees and even more tamales, that is all a part of what is going on this weekend.

Super Saturday and La Gran Tamalada: A very special 10th-anniversary edition of La Gran Tamalada will take place. $20 admission for members and $30 admission for non-members.  Tickets are available online.

Sunday Masa: A Holiday Tamales Extravaganza: On Sunday Alamo Beer will host this event for the first time. It starts at 11 a.m. There will be tamale vendors, a made in SA holiday market, a pan dulce pavilion and live music. The event is open to the public and it's dog friendly. 

La Gran Tamalada: This annual event was moved from Guadalupe Theater to Market Square this year. There will be plenty of tamale making and festivities. This start at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

La Virgin de Guadalupe Market & Fideo Cook Off: This will take place Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brick at Blue Star. Admission is free and open to all ages. Fideo cook off tastings are $2 and a VIP package to taste all the tastings is $25. 

59th Annual Light Up Celebration: The city of Windcrest is hosting their yearly holiday event. This starts at 6 p.m. and Santa is expected to light the Christmas tree at 7 p.m.

31st Annual Blessing of the Animals: On Saturday your pets can get blessed at Market Square. This runs from noon to 6 p.m. There will be an animal parade, petting zoo, food booths and live music.

2017 Wookiee Walk: Star Wars fans gather at Maverick Plaza at La Villita. There will be food, drinks, music, artists, and vendors. Organizers encourage all to go dressed to impress and work on your Wookiee roars. This runs from 3 to 9 p.m.
