SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12's Josh Skurnik returned to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Friday and had fun with both the heifers and the petting zoo.
As contestants prepare for the heifer show, the competition is fierce and only one can be crowned Grand Champion.
Thirteen month-old Short Horn heifer "Amy" is gunning for the title.
The woman responsible for Amy is Tori Zimmer, a member of the Zimmer-Bode show family out of Dayton, Texas.
Early on Friday Zimmer and Layne Bode gave Amy and 15-month-old Malibu a scrub down with shampoo and conditioner.
Over at the Great American Petting Zoo, out of the 70 animals there three baby pygmy goats are some of the biggest stars.
They are four days old, and will get to be mom's size in about two years.
The animals home is Stephenville, Texas and for the rodeo Sherry Glavlik brought 11 different species to get up close and personal with including donkeys, pigs, llamas, even wallabies.
For three dollars guests can feed one a barnyard ice cream cone.
