Even though October is less than three months away, it feels like Halloween has arrived after the first movie trailer for “Leatherface” was released on Monday.
The movie was filmed to be a prequel to the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and set to be released on Oct. 20, 2017.

According to Collider.com, a film website owned by Complex, the movie will be exclusively released to DirecTV customers on Sept. 21, but will make its theatrical debut two weeks before Halloween.
The prequel is filmed to focus on the iconic horror character as a teenager who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnapping a nurse in the process.
A deranged Texas Ranger known as Hal Hartman is out for revenge against the killer, destroying the mind of one of the teens who will later become known as “Leatherface.”

In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with 3 other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface.
