On Monday, many across the nation enjoyed the first total solar eclipse in the U.S. since 1979 -- including President Donald Trump.

Trump, along with his wife and son, viewed the solar eclipse with protective glasses from the White House as press broadcast the event on live television.

At some point during the live broadcast, Trump removed his protective glasses and looked directly at the eclipse for a brief moment while straining his eyes. Trump quickly looked away, but just as someone shouted "don't look," Trump returned his gaze to the eclipse -- pointing at the sun the second time.

Leading up to the eclipse, NASA issued several warnings regarding the dangers of looking at the eclipse/sun without protective glasses.

Though brief, many noticed Trump's solar eclipse gaffe and took to social media to give him grief.
