SeaWorld San Antonio releases birth video of last killer whale born at park

SAN ANTONIO – SeaWorld San Antonio on Wednesday released video of the last killer whale to be born at the park.

The birth comes after the park announced last year that it would end its killer whale breeding program.

The newborn’s mother, Takara, was already pregnant when SeaWorld made the announcement in March 2016.

Whale gestation periods last between 17 and 18 months.

The park said it plans to allow visitors to see Takara and her calf in the near future. The gender of the new calf is still unknown.
