'The Bachelorette' Blog: Rachel brings new spark in search for love

31 men put it all on the line with wild first impressions

SAN ANTONIO – Here we go again. “The Bachelorette” is back. This time it’s Rachel Lindsay calling the shots in the most diverse season ever.

Before I begin, I have a confession. I was not excited going into this season. That’s saying a lot considering I’m a true “Bachelor” junkie.

My hesitation has nothing to with Rachel. She’s beautiful, smart and how could I not cheer for a true Texas girl? I just hate all the spoilers that came out before the season even began. It definitely took some of the fun out of it. Despite my lack of enthusiasm, I promise I will give this season a chance.

Before meeting all 31 guys, Rachel met up with some of her best gal pals from her season with Nick. Normally I find these clips cheesy and cliché, but this was different. I realized this is one of the reasons people fell in love with Rachel. She’s a true girls’ girl. Raven, Corinne, Jasmine and others genuinely care about her and want her to find love.

Now let’s get to the guys and the always fun to watch limo introductions. Here are some of the most memorable limo moments:

Sweetest Guy: Peter was the first one out of the limo and he made me smile. He didn’t do anything crazy. He was just a gentleman. Did I mention he is very good looking?

Best Dance Moves: There were several guys who tried to be smooth with their moves but Kenny was my favorite. He is charismatic and it just flowed.

Most Ridiculous: Lucas, also known as “whaboom” man, definitely earned this title. Not only did he make his grand entrance by talking about his genitals with a megaphone, he kept the megaphone with him all night. He is ridiculous and clearly bringing the crazy to the house this season. Why do I have feeling his crazy antics and “whaboom” catch phrase are going to get old, fast?

Best Joke: Most guys used jokes or gimmicks to get Rachel’s attention, but Brady literally broke a block of ice. While it may have been a little over the top, this cutie pulled it off.

Most Over the Top: After being less than memorable the first time he met Rachel, Blake E. decided to shake things up this time. I think a marching band definitely did the trick.

Most Annoying: I was super turned off by the guys she had already met. Most of them were over confident and felt like they had the upper hand. They were just annoying.

Most Awkward: Every season it’s always interesting to see the job descriptions under the guy’s names. This season is no exceptions and there are some real characters. Jonathan is one of them. His job description is “Tickle Monster.” When he met Rachel he tried to make her laugh by tickling her. Then he went on to tickle some of the guys in the house. Can you say awkward?

Another highlight from the night:

Bryan, the first and second kiss of the season, got the first impression rose. I know Rachel was into it, but I had to look away. He was so aggressive and it was just too over the top. These kisses were not cute and left me cringing.

My predictions for the final 5 guys:

  • Kenny
  • Jack Stone
  • Bryan
  • Peter
  • Josiah
