Boy uses allowance money to take mom to dinner

Facebook post from former reality TV star goes viral

MONROE, Mich. – A 6-year-old boy has shown that you can never be too young to be a proper gentleman.

A picture of Lyle Drummonds posted on his mother's Facebook page on Jan. 1 shows the young boy buying his mom dinner by using his allowance money.

Nikkole Paulun, a former reality TV star on "16 and Pregnant," said in the post that Lyle takes her out on a monthly dinner date where the two talk without the interference of iPads or smartphones.

And paying the bill isn't Lyle's only chivalrous move.

According to Paulun, her son also "pulls out his her chair, talks about his day and asks me how mine was."

Drummonds uses the allowance money he earns by doing household chores to pay for the dinner dates.

Paulun, 22, says it's never too early to teach children to be respectful of others, especially woman. A victim of abuse herself, Paulun feels it is important to provide early lessons to Lyle and his 2-month-old sister Ellie.

Since it was posted, the picture has received over 2.8 million likes.

Paulun told ABC News that she and Lyle had been going on the dinner dates for four months.

"The reason I started the dinner dates was [because of] the fact that I had been treated poorly in the past," Paulun told ABC.  "I see so many girls get treated badly, and I wanted to make sure my son didn't grow up to be like that."
