Mother packs two lunches for son and classmate

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – A mother in New Mexico couldn't understand why her son would always ask her to pack him two lunches for school.

But when Dylan fessed up, Josette felt pride and admiration for her son.

Dylan was bringing the extra lunch to give to a friend who had very little to eat.

Josette shared Dylan's explanation in a Facebook Live conversation.

"Mom, it’s for this boy. He only eats a fruit cup for lunch. Can you make him lunch too? I don’t think he has lunch money.”

Mom and son learned that the friend's mother was a single mom and had just lost her job, something the Duran's had experienced themselves.

"This hits home to me because a few years ago, me and my son were homeless," Duran said in her post. "I was living in my car and I was washing him in bathrooms. And we didn't have food."

Once the friend's mom got a new job, she tried paying back the Durans, but they wouldn't accept the money.

In fact, the girls' volleyball team Duran coaches took things a step further and raised over $400 to pay her back, but Duran took the money and paid off the past due accounts of the students at the school cafeteria.
