KSAT Flavor Favs: SA Pops

Sweet treats and bold flavors

SAN ANTONIO – What is one great way to cool off during the summer?

How does a homemade paleta or ice cream sound?

This week for KSAT Flavors Favs we ventured out to SA Pops located at 3420 N. St. Mary's.

Chef Andrew Gutierrez opened the place back in 2013 and it has quickly grown in popularity.

There are so many sweet options on the menu, but the favorite for many are the homemade paletas.

These aren't the same paletas you can find around town. A lot of thought is put into the flavors, and each one is created right inside SA Pops by Chef Andrew.

Once you decide which flavor you want, you can further the dessert by dipping it in chocolate and adding your favorite toppings.

At SA Pops you can choose to take your ice cream togo or stay and eat inside or out on the patio.

The atmosphere is very homey and all about family. You can usually even find Chef Andrew's mom visiting with customers and helping out.

Chef Andrew isn't done yet creating new ideas.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Chef is constantly studying, traveling and looking for new ideas.

"The skies the limit as far as your creativity and imagination to create different flavors," said Chef Andrew.
