SAN ANTONIO - What started as a food truck is now a restaurant.
Wayne’s Wings, on 2427 Austin Hwy., is serving what some our viewers are calling the best wings ever.
So much so that the popular food website, delish.com, called Wayne’s Wings the best wings in Texas.
“I couldn’t believe it,” owner Dwayne Price said. “We put a lot of hard work in, and it was just a really good feeling.”
It hasn’t always been good times for Price. While operating in his food truck, the trailer caught fire and burned.
“We’ve been through the ups and downs, and we just don’t give up,” Price said.
What makes these wings so popular is the love and time put into each order.
All the wings are marinated for 24 hours, and they don’t get battered until an order is made.
“So it might take a little while sometimes for your order, because it’s made fresh,” Price said.
Price also enjoys experimenting with different wing flavors. The menu right now features 36 flavors, even a dessert one that tastes like a funnel cake.
The idea came from Price’s wife who wanted a Fiesta themed wing. After they are fried, the wings are put in powdered sugar and topped with a bit of cinnamon.
Open Tuesday through Sunday, Wayne’s Wings looks forward to creating more flavors and serving all of San Antonio.
