Casual SA pub provides variety of cocktails, food

Flavor Favs: Bexar Pub

SAN ANTONIO – Chef Luis Colon has become a premier chef in San Antonio and his new concept has become a must-try for many.

Located at 114 Brooklyn Ave., Bexar Pub is a more relaxed restaurant than Colon’s previous spot.

“It’s a more casual concept we have now,” Colon said. “We are doing the Folc burger, fried chicken and we have a full bar menu with 14 taps."

Last November, Folc closed its doors after sustaining significant damage during an electrical fire.

The menu featured the famous Folc burger, voted the best in Texas by Texas Monthly.

The idea for Bexar Pub was created from the success from that burger.

“When we won the best burger on Texas Monthly back in June of last year, this kind of pushed us that way,” Colon said.

With the new place now up and running, Colon tells us that he is focused on reopening Folc in a new location.

“We are in the process of moving out of Olmos Park, and now we just have to make sure we hammer down a proper lease that’s good for us,” Colon said.

Until then, you can catch Colon at Bexar Pub, a place he said he wants to really establish as a part of the Alamo City.

Bexar Pub is opened seven days a week from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.
