New Braunfels restaurant reopens with new-look biergarten

Flavor Favs: Krause's Biergarten and Cafe

New Braunfels - – If you live in or travel to New Braunfels, you won't go wrong with a stop at Krause's Biergarten and Cafe.

Located at 148 S. Castell Ave., the place is rich with German and New Braunfels' history.

"Krause's was opened in 1938 as Gene's Place, and we really wanted to reopen Krause's to honor the family and decades of hard work they spent serving the city of New Braunfels," manager Jeremy Rader said.

The biergarten, a new addition offers wine, sangria, margaritas and over 70 beers on tap.

"We really wanted to represent German beers really well and also wanted to represent Texas craft beer," Rader said.

Besides the drink options, the menu showcases many German dishes.

"We pulled out some of those classic dishes like our schnitzel, bratwurst and sausage plates," executive chef Jeremy "Boomer' Acuna said.

Not only is the food great, it's a restaurant the entire family can enjoy, especially during the summer.

"It's a wonderful place to go before or after the river," Radar said. "You can sit down and have a great meal with the kids."
