Philadelphia natives bring Philly cheesesteaks to San Antonio

Flavor Favs: Youz Guyz South Philly Cheesesteaks

SAN ANTONIO – As soon as people walk into Youz Guyz South Philly Cheseesteaks, they instantly feel like they are in Philadelphia.

Located at 316 Pat Booker Road, Youz Guyz is the creation of a true Philly native, who opened the place after visiting family in San Antonio in 2008.

"I came down to visit, and I fell in love with Texas and never went back," owner James De Laurentis said.

From the memorabilia to the bread used, everything comes directly from Philadelphia. The bread used is made from a bakery in Philadelphia, and customers say makes each sandwich ten times better.

"We wanted to do something different. We wanted to do authentic Philly cheesesteaks," De Laurentis said.

The place is not only a welcome establishment for all: it encourages veterans with service dogs to visit.

"We just do it, because we are animal lovers and we love them," De Laurentis said. "When they come to eat, we also have doggie treats for the dogs to eat."

"It's really amazing how many people in San Antonio really go crazy for cheesesteaks." De Laurentis said.
