Universal City cafe known for sandwiches, treating customers like royalty

Flavor Favs: Four Kings Cafe

SAN ANTONIO – Soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts are the four items that makes up Four Kings Cafe.

"My mom has always had this dream of having her own business, having her own restaurant and taking care of others," owner Jillian Parker said.

All ingredients at Four Kings are bought from local farms and what is not purchased is made in the cafe.

"Everything's fresh made in house daily," Parker said. "Our bakers get here about 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. to start baking breads and desserts."

The most popular sandwich on the menu is the bahn mi. It is a Vietnamese pork sandwich that includes carrot slaw, jalepenos, cilantro and ginger chili sauce.

The soups are also very popular, including chicken and dumplings.

"We sale roughly 40 gallons of it in two to three hours," Parker said.

Most customers who stop by are regulars and some even take time from their day to help out with the cafe is busy.
