Friday Freebies: June 2, 2017
Free fishing, free movie screening
SAN ANTONIO –
Lots of free family-fun activities around San Antonio are part of this week’s Friday Freebies.
Jump right into summer this weekend at Hemisfair's Super Fun Saturdays. San Antonio is not exactly close to the beach, but from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, you and your children can build a sandcastle in Yanaguana Garden. A local sculptor will even be on hand to give pointers to little engineers. Supplies will be provided.
June 3 is the first Saturday of the month, which means you can take a trip back to the 1830s. The grounds of the Alamo will be transformed back to that time period. Make a trip downtown anytime between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for some living history that the whole family can enjoy.
If you're want to spend time outdoors, Saturday is the perfect day as it is Free Fishing Day. You'll be able to fish at any public body of water in Texas, license-free. Size and bag limits still apply.
For a full list of major lakes and a list of regulations, visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.
"The Pirates: Band of Misfits” will be playing at 8 p.m. Saturday at Pickrell Park in Schertz for free courtesy of Slab Cinema. Grab your picnic chairs and blankets to enjoy the animated adventure.
