Free family events, ice cream

SAN ANTONIO – Fun family events and free ice cream from McDonald’s are part of this week’s Friday Freebies.

Geoffrey’s Day at all Toys ‘R’ Us stores runs from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, with lots of fun things for the little ones to do. They can try out toys and games such as Pie Face, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots and Nerf, among others.

The event will have arts and crafts, free stickers and coloring sheets and children can get their picture taken with Geoffrey the giraffe.

If your kids love “Captain Underpants,” Target is holding an event that they’ll love. At 2 p.m. Saturday, at participating stores, children can create their own comic book and get a special name tag. Parents can find the details on page five of this week’s circular, which is available on Target’s website.

Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, and McDonald’s is giving away free ice cream cones. All you have to do is the download the restaurant’s app and redeem the free cone deal between 2-5 p.m., and there’s also a chance you could win free ice cream for life.

Slab Cinema is bringing an animated hit movie to Woodlawn Lake at 8 p.m. Saturday. Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and take your children to see “Sing.”
