Families of organ donors remember loved ones with quilt

Event held at Bright Shawl

SAN ANTONIO – Families of organ donors gathered to remember their loved ones in a quilt dedication.

The event was held at the Bright Shawl, where hundreds of eye and cornea donors were honored with their pictures and names on the quilt.

They were also honored with a memorial balloon release.

The families of the organ donors said it was a great way to recognize the gift of sight that their loved ones gave.

One mother who lost her 5-year-old daughter, Jaycee, to cancer said it's a comfort to know that her daughter's legacy lives on.

"Jaycee was such a giving little girl that was one of the thing that made the decision easier, she would share her toys, her ice cream, so that's what made it easier," said Hope Sepulveda.

The event also included a balloon release and a video tribute.
