Doctor creates all-natural allergy remedy

Natural remedies now sold with pharmaceutical meds in local drug stores

SAN ANTONIO – It's that time of year when rag weed sufferers will be looking on drug store shelves for relief, and when they do, they may be confronted with more all natural remedies than ever before.

It's a growing trend, with dietary supplements that claim to be just as effective as FDA approved medication sitting alongside their competitors.

Dr. Zak Zarbock, a pediatrician, is one of the increasing number of medical doctors who thinks the trend is a good one.

It's so good, in fact, that he developed an entire line of herbal remedies that he says do work as well as traditional meds.

His remedies are going on shelves at CVS.

His big seller may well be Zarbee's Naturals Seasonal Relief, an all-natural remedy that claims to be fast acting with no drowsy effects.

"You can go online, you can Google this product and that ingredient, and you can see in the clinical trials it stacks up, if not the same, then better than the leading products to relieve the symptoms without the side effects," said Zarbock.

The active ingredient is something called ZE-339, or butterbur leaf extract.

It's been in prescription medications in Europe for many years, but now can be bought in the U.S. with no prescription.

He says it can react to allergy symptoms, as well as name brands like Zyrtec and Singular.

Zarbock said it was important to him and his family to find products like this.

"I developed Zarbee's largely out of necessity for parents who needed products for their kids that were not available and natural products are so desired by the public right now," he said.
