SAN ANTONIO – Halloween isn’t might now be for another two days, but dozens of children on San Antonio’s East Side got the chance to celebrate early with a safe space for kids to have fun and trick-or-treat.

Sunday was the second annual Hallow-East celebration at New Braunfels Avenue between Burnett and Dawson roads.

Children dressed as Wonder Woman, witches, Darth Vader and ninjas lined the streets as their favorite characters.

Even though it is a Halloween celebration, organizers hoped the event would acts as a place where families could come and participate in the festivities without fear.

San Antonio for Growth on the East Side, or SAGE, partnered with 40 local organizations to make the event a success.

District 2 Councilman William “Cruz” Shaw's and his office attended as did San Antonio police officers who barbequed meals on the grill.

There also was music, entertainment, a pumpkin patch and a costume contest.
