Man's 'Blank Box' used to deter holiday thieves

A Washington man who grew tired of thieves stealing holiday packages from his porch discovered a new method to keep them away.

Jaireme Barrow, inventor of "The Blank Box," began making the booby-traps out of necessity.

"I got tired of all my packages coming up missing," said Barrow. "I'd be at work and I'd get home and they wouldn't be on my front porch. I'd watch my surveillance and see someone running away with them."

The product works by using a blank shotgun shell and fishing wire. When a person tries to grab the box, the blank makes a loud noise, scaring the thief away safely.

Barrow's business has since caught on, allowing him to manufacture the product and sell it on his website, theblankbox.com.
