Local philanthropist hosts holiday party, donates gifts to Southside ISD students

56 students receive gifts, clothes for Christmas

SAN ANTONIO – A big-hearted San Antonian made sure dozens of deserving children have a special Christmas this year.

Fifty-six students from the Southside Independent School District and their parents were invited to a holiday party Saturday, where they were treated to some South Texas favorites, such as tamales, carne guisada, rice, beans and homemade tortillas.

The children were given gifts and clothes.

Local philanthropist Kym Rapier made the event possible, along with the help of several sponsors.

“To (Rapier), it's just a token of love for the San Antonio community, but for these families, it's something that's going to be memorable for them,” said Karina Villa, CEO of Forward Fitness.

More than a dozen medical students from the University of the Incarnate Word’s School of Osteopathic Medicine helped with the event.
