What would it be like to be left on the airplane after a flight? Tiffani O'Brien knows.

O'Brien fell asleep on a recent Air Canada flight from Quebec to Toronto and woke up all alone on the empty aircraft. It was midnight, and the plane was pitch-dark.

"I thought this is a nightmare; 'This is not happening,'" she said.

She was "full on panicking" inside the plane, which was parked far from any terminals.

The empty plane was powered down, so O'Brien couldn't charge her dying phone. Just before her phone gave out, she texted her friend about the scary situation.

"It's just this sheer sense of helplessness when you feel like you're locked on this aircraft," O'Brien told Inside Edition.

Adam's friend ended up calling the airport.

"I said her plane had just landed two hours ago. She texted me that she just woke up. I said, 'I don't know what's going on but she's at the airport,'" said the friend, Deanna Noel-Dale.

On the plane, O'Brien fumbled around in the dark and made her way to the cockpit.

"I was so scared I'm gonna touch something that's wrong, but I knew I had to do something and I found the flashlight and I was so happy. That was like the best moment ever," O'Brien said.

After getting the cabin door open, O'Brien said she used the flashlight to signal a worker on the tarmac.

According to a Facebook post, O'Brien said that Air Canada called her about the incident and apologized. She said the company told her "they will do an investigation bc they have checks in place that should prevent people from being locked on the aircraft at night."
