The need for life-saving transplants is great. On Wednesday, KSAT Community and partners Security Service Federal Credit Union, University Health Systems and Corner Store, have teamed up with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance to ask for help in the fight to save lives by joining the registry. KSAT 12 will host the “Donate Life Texas Phone Bank” from noon to 7 p.m. with volunteers from the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance onsite answering calls.
According to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance, more than 120,000 individuals are waiting for organs in the U.S., and over 11,000 of those are from Texas. A new patient is added to the list about every 10 minutes and 8,000 of these patients will die. Just one donation can save up to eight lives, and help transplant recipients by restoring vision and improve their lives in ways other synthetic products or materials cannot.
Simply put, donation makes lifesaving transplants possible. Help save lives and join the registry today at www.DonateLifeTexas.org/KSAT or find interactive ways to share your Donate Life story if you are already registered.
