SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Food Bank is coming off its biggest summer in history trying to accommodate more than 200,000 kids and families at risk for hunger.
Their shelves are at historic lows, with only weeks of nonperishable food left in their inventory.
In an effort to raise awareness for Hunger Action Month (orange theme) in September and help restock the food bank shelves, KSAT Community and partners will host a 'Stuff the Silverado' food drive at San Antonio Area Chevy Dealers throughout September.
Michael Guerra, chief development officer for the San Antonio Food Bank, said shelves at the food bank were full at this time last year because of the generous donations coming in after Hurricane Harvey.
