Reception held to kick off Head for the Cure 5K

KSAT has hosted race for three years; nearly $100K raised last year

SAN ANTONIO – With the fourth annual Head for the Cure 5K just three months away, a kickoff reception was held Thursday evening at University Hospital.

KSAT 12 has hosted the race since it began three years ago. Last year, the race raised nearly $100,000 for brain cancer research. The event was brought to San Antonio after KSAT's former news director, Jim Boyle, died from brain cancer.

"It is a disease that's become more prevalent. Research dollars are paramount to defeat this disease,” said Matt Anthony, with Head for the Cure.

The race is set for Sept. 23 at Providence High School on North St. Mary's Street. You still have time to register for the race. For more information, click here.
