'Layaway Angel' pays off more than $10,000 of layaway orders at Toys"R"Us

Donor also paid for gifts to be donated to Toys for Tots Foundation

CHERRY HILL, New Jersey – A New Jersey man is making sure kids get everything on their Christmas list this year, paying for a whopping $10,780 of layaway orders at a Cherry Hill Toys“R”Us.

The man, who goes by Charlie K., took on a new name on Friday when he paid off 62 layaway orders -- "Layaway Angel."

Charlie said he just wants to "bring some happiness to people."

 

"That's really it," Charlie said. "Help bring back to the community that brought so much happiness to me and my family."

Stephanie Dawson heard about Layaway Angel's kind gesture and went to the Toys“R”Us to find her layaway cart was one of the 62 paid off.

Dawson put seven presents for her grandchildren on layaway. The order was worth $200.

"I want to say thank you very much and I appreciate it and thank god for you," Dawson said.

Jessica Key showed up at the Toys“R”Us on Friday planning on paying the full price for her layaway order. Instead, she was met with great news.

"They come over and tell me someone actually paid the layaway," Key said. "Definitely an early Christmas and I want to say thank you to the gentleman that came in and donated it's like the best feeling, thank you."

Layaway Angel also had everyone inside the store pick out three toys to donate to Toys for Tots. The bill came out to approximately $2,000.
