SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead after a drunken driver slammed into them on an Interstate 35 access road early Sunday morning.
The wreck happened on the city's East Side near Toepperwein and I-35.
Police said a man in a pickup was driving south on the access road when he T-boned a car.
The passenger in the car died at the scene and the driver was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was arrested, and is being charged with intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter.
