Victim identified in fatal shooting on Northwest Side

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man shot and killed on the city's Northwest Side.

Marcus Cummings, 20, died Saturday.

Police said Cummings and his girlfriend were sitting in a pickup truck outside his house in the 8800 block of Meadow Trace Street when a vehicle pulled up. Cummings was then shot multiple times following an argument.

Cumming's girlfriend was also shot in the leg during the incident. She was taken to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, but is expected to recover.

The investigation is ongoing.

1 person is dead and another is in the hospital following a shooting on the city's Northwest Side, San Antonio police said Saturday.

The shooting took place around 8:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of Meadow Trace Street, located in a neighborhood near Culebra Road and Grissom Road.

Police said a 17-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were in a pickup truck on the side of the street when a second vehicle appeared.

Witnesses say an argument ensued before several shots were fired by the people inside the unidentified vehicle.

Police said the 17-year old woman was shot in the leg and was taken by somebody at the scene to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital.

The man with her was shot multiple times. He was transported to University Hospital but later died.

Police have yet to release details of the vehicle or of the people involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
