Large variety of drugs found inside pick-up truck, officials say

SAN ANTONIO – A man and a woman have been arrested after leading Bexar County sheriff's deputies on an overnight chase in a stolen pick-up truck filled with a large variety of drugs found inside the vehicle, officials said.

The chase began around 10 p.m. Thursday night when a deputy pulled over a pick-up truck in a routine traffic stop, only later to find the truck was reported stolen after running the vehicle’s license plate, deputies said.

According to deputies, said that’s when the driver of the stolen truck sped off near the intersection of Zarzamora Street and Military Drive, about 8 miles southwest from the heart of downtown San Antonio.

The driver drove down Zarzamora Street towards downtown, turning off the truck’s lights after taking a right on Nogalitos Street, deputies said.

Deputies said the driver turned the truck’s lights back on when taking a right on Division Avenue, where authorities eventually boxed in the vehicle in at the corner of Division Avenue and Commercial Avenue.

The driver then tried to outrun deputies once more by jumping the curb, but after landing in the front yard of a home, a man and a woman got out and ran, officials said.

BCSO deputies said they were able to catch the two suspects several blocks away and found large amounts of different types of drugs inside the reported stolen vehicle.

The man and woman are in custody and will be facing several charges.
