SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio City Council approved a $2 million request from the San Antonio Police Department on Thursday.
The Police Department will use the funds to hire 15 additional officers to help fight violence across the city. It also wants to purchase seven new patrol cars.

The extra manpower would go to one of the department’s most efficient units, the Street Crime Unit, which mostly deals with street gangs.
