2 shot on East Side after drug deal goes bad

SAN ANTONIO – Two people were shot on the city’s East Side on Tuesday night.

Police said it started with a drug deal at an apartment complex on East Commerce Street near the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant.

The injured couple drove to a Valero gas station less than a mile away to call for help.

The shooting happened in front of San Antonio Police Department’s East Side Substation around 8:45 p.m. at an apartment complex about a half-mile from the Valero.

Police said the victims, a man in a woman, who are both 27, were meeting up with the shooter to sell drugs. During the exchange, there was an argument and the shooter pulled out a gun and fired four times, hitting each victim once.

The man was shot in the chest and the woman in the right leg.

Both victims were taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center. Police are still trying to track down the shooter.
