Sources: Tivy's Smith to take over at Judson
Jim Rackly to retire at end of January
SAN ANTONIO – Judson High School may have found their new head football coach.
According to two sources, Kerrville Tivy head coach Mark Smith will be named as the new head coach of the Rockets.
Sources close to the Judson and Kerrville football programs say an official announcement could be made as early as Friday even though Smith's hiring has not been confirmed by JISD officials and it is pending a vote by the school board.
Smith made a short list of finalists which included Lee Bridges of Stevens High School.
Smith just completed his tenth season at Tivy and has an overall record of 93-33.
If chosen, he will replace Jim Rackly who announced his retirement after 26 years at Judson High School.
KSAT-12 attempted to contact Smith, but did not get a response.
Rackley's recommended replacement, Rockets' defensive coordinator Mark Soto, did not make the list of finalists.
