1 killed at massive southeast Houston party

HPD: At least 400 people were at home during shooting

HOUSTON – Investigators are looking for the person who killed a man after a massive house party in southeast Houston last week.

Houston police said at least 400 people crammed into a home the intersection of Pembroke and Allison for what they described as a rave-style party on March 13.

The shooting happened when officers showed up to try and shut the party down, detectives said.

Witnesses said alcohol and drugs contributed to the chaos that was on the streets during the shooting.

Police said several people were involved in the gunfire. Officers said they tried to chase a person they saw with a gun, but he got away. Officials said they do not know if that person fired the fatal shots.

"Everybody was running and tripping over each other. I was just walking and I just saw somebody get shot. I was like whoa! I ducked and then I heard pop, pop, pop and saw a guy with his face on the ground," witness Rico Jose said.

Several witnesses were questioned, but police have not released any information about the suspect.

The name of the victim has not been released.
