Four men rescued at Calaveras Lake

Boaters stranded for four hours before rescue

SAN ANTONIO – Four men were rescued from Calaveras Lake early Wednesday morning after their boat began taking on water.

The men called for help at around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.  It took police about three and a half hours to find the men.  Rescue crews reached their boat around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The men told police that their battery died while they were out on the water.  Once crews found them, it took another 20 minutes to get them back to shore.  Police believe the men may have been intoxicated.

The men are expected to be fine.
