Guadalupe County judge to resign

Mike Wiggins was arrested on marijuana charges

SAN ANTONIO – Guadalupe County Judge Mike Wiggins has announced he will resign his post amid an arrest on drug charges.

Wiggins was arrested last month in Brazos County after police said they found him smoking marijuana in a hotel room. Police said they found a grinder and 20 grams of marijuana in his hotel room.

The county judge issued an apology, but initially refused to step down.

Several county officials asked him to resign.

Wiggins said he will turn in his resignation at the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court meeting next week.
