An 18-wheeler went up in flames late Monday night and delayed traffic on the Northwest Side.
The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. on the Interstate 10 access lanes at Medical Drive.
The driver said he heard a pop while on the road, pulled over and saw smoke coming from the engine.
The cab was quickly engulfed by flames and destroyed, fire officials said.
The incident tied up traffic on I-10 for a few hours before a tow truck pulled the rig off the freeway. There were no reported injuries.
