Man charged in road rage shooting

Nelson Leon King charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Live Oak police arrested a man in connection with a road rage shooting.

Police were called to the 11900 block of Northledge at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, where they found a victim with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim told police he was involved in a road rage incident at Leafy Hollow and Toepperwein. The victim told police another driver followed him to his home on Northledge where the two argued.

The victim said the man then shot him and drove off. Police found several 9 mm casings at the scene.

The victim was taken to Northeast Methodist Hospital. His condition wasn't immediately available.

Police found a car fitting the description given by the victim near Toepperwein and IH 35N.

After pulling over the driver, police found several 9 mm casings inside the car. The driver also fit the suspect's description, said police.

Police then arrested Nelson Leon King. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

King's 16-year-old son, who was inside the car with King at the time of his arrest, was also taken into custody but was later released to a family member.
