Police arrest shooting suspect following standoff

Suspect identified as Reginald Johnson, 23

An arrest affidavit gives more details about a man who was arrested after a shooting and standoff with police on the East Side Monday.

The suspect is identified as Reginald Johnson, 23. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. However, it is possible he could face additional charges related to the standoff.

The affidavit stated the 25-year-old shooting victim told police that Johnson came to his door in the 4700 block of Rigsby Avenue around 1 p.m. Monday, looking for a woman.

When he told Johnson the woman was not there, he left. However, he said Johnson returned a few minutes later, the affidavit stated.

The victim told police he opened the door a second time and that's when Johnson shot him in the face.

Police put out an alert for Johnson and a few hours later, officers tracked him to a home in the 4900 block of Crestmoor and found him hiding in the attic.

That led to a standoff which ended with Johnson surrendering shortly before 5 p.m.
