Judson ISD board approves employee retention incentives

Employees to get one-time payment of $1,200 or $600

CONVERSE, Texas – The Judson Independent School District board of trustees have approved a proposal to award employees an incentive to stay on with the district.

In a 5-2 vote during its meeting Monday night, the one-time incentives will reward about 2,800 full-time employees a $1,200 incentive. Part-time employees who work at least 20 hours a week would get $600.

Board members who supported the incentive said since budget limitations prohibited pay raises this year, the incentive aims to show that the district appreciates their teachers and staff.

To be eligible for the incentive, employees must have been hired by April 30, 2012 and still be employed by Nov. 15, 2012.

The employees will receive the money leading up to the Christmas break.

The funds for the retention incentive will come from the district's general operating account.
