SAPD announces campaign against aggressive driving

San Antonio police plan two-pronged approach: education and enforcement

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department has announced a new campaign aimed at educating people about the dangers of driving aggressively around commercial vehicles.

The chances of a fatality are much higher when a car or truck collides with a big rig. Police are asking drivers to be more aware and leave space for these big trucks.

"So many times the public thinks that all policemen do is enforce and write citations. We would much rather educate you and save lives than write the ticket," said Sergeant Michael Starnes with the SAPD Tactical Support Division.

Officers say the best way to avoid a crash or a citation is to control your own driving, follow the laws and respect other drivers on the road.
