Car almost hits house following chase
Truck parked in front hit instead
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police report they are still searching for a young man who bailed out of a vehicle after it almost crashed into a house at the corner of Harwood and Buckeye.
Instead, the small, two-door car slammed into a red truck parked outside the bedroom where homeowner Ernest Montez said he and his wife were resting.
"It sounded like a bomb went off," Montez said.
He said had it not been for his wife's truck, they may have been killed.
Officer Matt Porter, SAPD spokesman, said the incident began after an officer saw someone toss a beer bottle out of the moving vehicle.
Porter said the green car with the driver and two passengers took off.
He said the officer had decided not to stop vehicle when, moments later, the call came out reporting the crash.
Porter said one male fled on foot.
Another male and a female were taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He also said a rifle or shotgun was recovered at the scene.
