Man, 84, accused of sexually assaulting child

Police: Filiberto Arriaga assaulted girl, 6; gave her STD

SAN ANTONIO – Filiberto Arriaga, 84, is accused of super aggravated sexual assault of a child. The 'super' is added when the victim is under six years old.

Police also said Arriaga gave the child a sexually transmitted disease.

Experts said Arriaga's age makes the crime unusual.

"There's a big question mark over how long this guy with this allegation has possibly been doing these kinds of acts," said James Castro, with the St. P.J.'s Children's Home.

Arriaga has no record, but Castro said that might not matter.

"This isn't something that typically somebody is going to wake up one day and be impulsive and start acting on these thoughts," he said.

Arriaga's home lends to concern as well. His property buts up against the back of Rayburn Elementary school.

It's unknown if the victim went to the school or not, but Castro said it brings up a reminder for parents.

"The due diligence for us is to always know where our children are," said Castro. "There is no standard profile of what a child molester looks like."
