SAN ANTONIO – A man who allegedly ran from police after they discovered him in a stolen car is in their custody now.

Officers caught up with Chad Critchley, 33, Wednesday in connection with an incident that had happened the previous day.

An arrest affidavit stated police received a call Tuesday about a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander that was parked at a gas station near Interstate 35 and Weidner Road.

Officers said they also had received a tip that Critchley was the person driving the vehicle.

Undercover detectives set up surveillance and later saw a man, who they identified as Critchley, climb into the vehicle and drive off, the affidavit stated.

Police tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the car sped off, the affidavit stated.
