Driver hits jogger, leaves scene then confesses

Jogger struck by car on along Babcock Road

SAN ANTONIO – A teenager was hit by a pickup truck while jogging on the far Northwest side late Tuesday night, and as police looked for the driver at fault, she was right under their noses.

Investigators say the woman stopped to help the jogger, and waited for police and paramedics to arrive, but never told them she was the driver at fault.

Officers say the woman went home and had a change of heart, then called police to confess.

Police said the woman told them she was driving along Babcock near Wild Eagle around 11:30 p.m.

She said she looked down to change the radio, and when she looked up, there was a jogger in the road and she couldn't avoid hitting him.

The teen was taken to University Hospital for treatment, but is expected to recover.

Police said the case remained under investigation and it was unclear whether the driver would be charged.
