Home sales, prices highest in years

SA Board of Realtors reports 3-month growth in real estate market

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Board of Realtors reported strong sales for the month of June, saying homes sold at higher prices than they have in years.

Board Chairman Liza Reyes said June capped a three month uptick in sales, with the average price of homes sold climbing to $209,820.

"Everything's moving up. The interest rates are so low, people are purchasing a little more," said Reyes.

According to SABOR, sales of single family homes increased four percent from June, 2011, and the number of active listings declined nearly 15 percent in the same span of time.

Although reported sales prices were high, the Bexar Appraisal District reported a three-year decline in appraised home values.
